Presidents and Actor

2008年11月19日 Posted in: 隨心

Read a very inspirational passage today. To be a successful person, you should not be successful all the times. Sometimes you have to experience failures and you need to get help from others. Only those who can read people, know when to be successful, and when to get help form others are the ultimate ones to get the real success. If the big picture needs you to be coward, be coward. Presidents and managers attend training courses on acting before inauguration.

Unrealistic Requirements

2008年10月30日 Posted in: 隨心, 工作

Unless you are the biggest boss in office, you are somehow bounded by the rule of your boss or boss of the boss. Even if you are the biggest boss in office, you are still bounded by the company culture, rules from corporate governance, expectation of investors. No one have the real freedom in work place. So, don't use the boundage from boss as your way out. Successful people would not be successful if they could not handle the unrealistic requirements from bosses and get through the difficulties. Handling your boss and the unrealistic requests is part of your job duty. You won't be a member of the round table without getting through those hurdles.

Boss’ Life

2008年10月09日 Posted in: 隨心

ffBoss thinks that things go smooth and he has the rights to take pride to his management skill. I think most projects are not under good control; indeed, who can get them under control when there are so many surprises happening daily. All our efforts were spending on the surprising tasks. Not to mention the effort or preparation required to explain the details to the bosses of the bosses. Also, when messages were passing through with the speed of light, emails were dessiminating into the mail boxes like the rain drops from the sky, who will be able to handle that much within office hours. Ok, we settle. We read emails and documents in home. When we are reading documents, the phone rings. Its time to handle clients in the other part of the world. They have just finished up the morning break coffee. Come on, we have to sleep. Just take down whatever we have to follow up on the next day and finish the call as soon as possible. The phone rings again. Boss wants to poll the latest status of the tasks on hand for tomorrow's meeting. He has the energy to do so because he had a good sleep in office!

Fishball and Ice-cream

2008年07月09日 Posted in: 隨心

I am not happy in these few days. Don't know why. Just get into a down side psychologically. Somebody said men do have periods. May be he is right. Without clue, I took my son downstair to eat. Fishball, ice-cream… Feeling much better now. Food can cure all kinds of sickness, I think. When you have enought food in the stomach, there are not many bad things you can experience. Some time ago when I did not know this trick, I would put myself in an empty room and thought a whole lot on this and that. The consequence was that I would be more depress. Today, I went through a very positive process. Hope you can get back from the downturn, as what I have done.

Thoery 102

2008年07月07日 Posted in: 隨心

Man of my ago group have lots of “theory” in mind; Some of those are good while the rest are just BS. Today, I would like to share one of those to you all in the net, the place where most BS can be found.

Theory 102:

If you invest a little (amount that is not meaningful to you) into the stock market, you will have a strong sense on the market. You can feel the ups and downs (the trend) of the market… Which is good, right? However, if you invest a lot (amount that can hurt you on the down trend) into the market, you cannot be that objective anymore. Your sense will be affect by you will. Ok, if we cannot do it objectively on our own, how about let some professionals do it; To be a professional investor, they can always be that objective… because the money is not theirs'. With that basic theory in mind, will you invest? I don't know.

Age Discrimination

2008年04月16日 Posted in: 隨心, 工作, 日記

Watch a news about age discrimination in the airlines of hong kong tonight. Somehow, airlines force local attendants to “retire” before 45 or 55, subject to the starting date of the contract. According to the spokeman of the airlines, revise of retirement age is a big issue to the companies as the arrangement would have impact to the promotion prospects.

The news does not bring me any surprise. Explanation from the spokeman is also found reasonable. If all the old guys keep stucking at the top levels, how can new comers getting into the management level? Also, if you are not as energetic as before, it is logical to leave the position and let someome else who is strong enought to take over your place. The whole picture is crystal clear to me. However, being a mid age man, I start understand why middle age lives are filling with uncertains. On one hand, you do not know how long you can keep being productive (I mean with 120% output daily). On the other hand, you do not know how long you can keep producing in the existing position. Can we keep productive with these kinds of uncertain in mind? I really don't know.

Oxygen in the Room

2008年04月09日 Posted in: 隨心, 家庭

My wife asked me not to stay in the son's room for too long. Her point is that I will use up all the oxygen in the room and the son will not be able to take enought oxygen for tommorow's examination. I appreciate her meticulously care to the son but I just can't agree with her point of view which is not scientifically logical.
